St Andrew, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – Shaggy Reveals $100 million: on Thursday evening, February 1, international dancehall star Shaggy revealed a large cheque replica of $100 million to the press, as proceeds calculated in fundraising for the Bustamante Children’s Hospital, by his Make a Difference Foundation.
Since 2009, Shaggy through his Make a Difference Foundation has donated and repaired more than 450 pieces of equipment worth over US$1.6 million to the Bustamante Hospital for Children. This year his target was JMD$$100 million to fund the Children Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Bustamante Children’s Hospital.
The JMD$$100 million target was achieved from a total of ticket sales of the live charity concert Shaggy and Friends, Food For The Poor donations of $2.7 million, Official Shaggy Make A Difference Foundation WATA sales of $7.2 million, Textline donations of $130,000 and T-Shirt sales of $164,000.
This sum is the largest amount raised for the hospital since the fundraising started in 2009.
Bustamante Hospital for Children Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is the only one of its kind in the English Speaking Caribbean.
