Jamaica News, Westmoreland: The Minister of National Security, Dr. Horace Chang and a team from the Police Hierarchy and the Westmoreland Police Division, are presently still rendering comforting words to the immediate family of the police officer who was shot and killed by gunmen in Westmoreland on Sunday night.
Dr. Chang and the team arrived at the home of the slain cop, in Hartford district, Westmoreland shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.
The Security Minister told Jonnella Spence Bucknor, wife of the slain cop that, he will be doing everything in his power to ensure that those responsible for the brazen killing are brought to justice. Minister Chang also stated that it is a very unfortunate situation and he is now urging Mrs. Bucknor and her three daughters to be very strong in times like these.
In the meanwhile Detectives attached to the Savanna-la-mar CIB Department say they have gotten some leads and have now commenced a full-scale probe surrounding the shooting death of police officer, Constable Rohan Bucknor who was attached to the Little London Police Department.
Reports by the Westmoreland police are that shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Constable Bucknor who resided in Hartford district, went to a barber shop in the neighbouring community of Petersfield to get a haircut.
He was sitting inside the barber shop watching Digicel Rising Stars with friends when one man wearing a mask entered the establishment and brandished a handgun, the gunman opened fire hitting Bucknor to his upper body before escaping on a waiting motorcycle.
The police were summoned and upon arrival, the wounded Constable was rushed to the Savanna-la-mar hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
