Jamaica News, St Ann:  A 50-year-old man is believed to have lost his life in a fire of unknown origin, which totally destroyed his three-apartment house in the parish of St Ann on Friday morning, May 25.

The deceased has been identified as Ruel Maragh, a farmer of Watt Town also in St Ann.

Reports by the Watt Town Police are that shortly after 5:30 a.m. on Friday, a resident in the community raised an alarm after fire was seen coming from a section of Maragh’s house.

The police and the Fire Department were alerted but upon arrival, there was not much that the firemen could do as the three apartment concrete and board structured house along with all its contents were completely destroyed by the fire.

During the cooling down operation of the burnt dwelling, the firemen discovered the charred remains of the farmer beneath the burnt rubbles.

The police say they are now carrying out a probe into the fire and they are now awaiting a post-mortem examination result to determine the true cause of death.
