Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Deputy Leader Ruddy Spencer has been hospitalized following a stroke.
A trade unionist, Spencer was Minister of State for National Security up to February when he resigned as Member of Parliament for Clarendon South East.
It was rumored at the time that he was to be given a diplomatic position but that never materialized.
In the by-election made necessary by his resignation, Pearnel Charles Jnr retained the seat for the JLP in polls boycotted by the PNP.
Deputy General Secretary of the Party Aundre Franklin has asked for prayers for Mr Spencer.
