Robot Taxi Driver Charged with the Murder of Shineka Gray

St. James, Jamaica (McN) – St. James Crime Investigators have charged two men with the murder of 15-year-old student Shineka Gray of Mount Salem in St. James.

Charged are 31-year-old Gregory Roberts, illegal taxi driver, of Maroon Town, St. James and 23-year-old Mario Morrison of Bamboo District, Hanover.

Shineka’s body was found in St. James with multiple stab wounds on February 1, three days after she went missing on her way home from the funeral of a school friend.

Head of the St. James police, Senior Superintendent Marlon Nesbeth, alleged that Shineka was not targeted by the men, she unknowingly took an unlicensed taxi, which ended in her death.

Prime Minster Hon. Andrew Holness announced in an emergency press conference this week that starting Monday, police will begin to target robot taxi’s to remove them.

Both men will appear in the St. James Parish Court next week.
