USA (McKoy’s News) – Rihanna Helps Malawi Girls: Rihanna is helping girls in Malawi getting to school by giving them bicycles. This is the singer’s way of trying to avoid a massive drop-out rate. In Malawi, 4.6 kids go through Primary School, but only 8% of them complete Secondary School. The reason for this is a lack of transportation and young girls are the most impacted.
Rihanna is an ambassador for the Global Partnership for Education and so she visited Malawi in 2017 as part of her mission for education. Thanks to her, hundreds of girls have benefited from this gesture and this is not Rihanna’s only charity work. In April this year, she was honoured at Harvard for her humanitarian work.
At the ceremony she stated, “we’re all human and we all just want a chance, a chance at life, a chance at an education, a chance at a future, really”. Rihanna has also assisted in building cancer centres and scholarships in the Caribbean and beyond. Getting an education can be a difficult task, so thanks to Rihanna for providing these girls with wheels to get there.
She said again, “You don’t have to be rich to help somebody, you don’t gotta be famous, you don’t even have to be college educated”. I say, all you need is a heart of love to help, that’s all.
