Jamaica News, St Ann: Senator Ruel Reid is officially the JLP’s standard bearer for North West St Ann.
He was officially presented to the people on Sunday.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness said the decision to get the former Jamaica College principal in politics started in 2007 has finally materialised.
According to Mr. Holness, the people of North West St Ann will be getting a man of action and proven worth as shown by his transformative work at JC and in the Education Ministry where he worked as senior advisor to Holness between 2007-2011.
“We worked closely together to transform the education system. There can be no question, there can be second-guessing that that period in Jamaica’s history was probably the second period in which education moved the quickest” said Holness.
The Prime Minister further reasoned that change is coming to St Ann North West, a shift he sensed in 2016 while he was on the campaign trail. “We should have had this seat in 2016, there is no doubt about it. I campaigned with many of you. We spent many days going through and through, the people wanted the change. So by the parish council elections, the people made up their minds fully. Now you have all four parish council divisions” he said.
The North West St Ann constituency is represented by the PNP’s firebrand Dr. Dayton Campbell.
