Jamaica News: The Reggae Girlz, now ranked 7th in the region, will be tackling eight other teams to secure their spot at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
The 2020 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic qualifying tournament takes place January 28th, through to February 9th, 2020 in Edinburg, Texas.
The tournament is divided into two groups Group A and Group B. Jamaica is in Group B and must defeat Canada, Mexico, and Saint Kitts and Nevis to move on to the semi-finals. The top two finishers from each group will advance to the semi-finals. The winner of the semi-finals, scheduled to take place on Friday, February 7th-9th, at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Los Angeles, California, will automatically qualified for the Olympics.
The Reggae Girlz first match will be against Mexico and is set to take place on Wednesday, January 29. 2020. Then they face Canada on February 1, and finally take on Saint Kitts and Nevis on Tuesday, February 4, 2020.
Currently, their toughest opponent is the 2019 FIFA World Cup champions, United States, and World Cup participants, Canada.
