A Westmoreland man has been arrested and charged in connection with the stabbing death of another man, with whom he had a dispute in their community, in Wharf Road, Westmoreland, last Monday.
He has been identified as 51-year-old, Conrad Smith, otherwise called ‘Rasta’ of Wharf Road, also in Westmoreland, and he has confessed to the murder of 21-year-old Dean Pryce, otherwise called ‘ Deano’ a labourer also of Wharf Road.
Reports are that both men were outside a yard in the community, when an argument developed between them.
During the altercation, Smith allegedly attacked Pryce with a knife and stabbed him in the regions of his chest. Pryce ran a distance and then collapsed.
The police were summoned and Pryce was rushed to hospital where he was treated and admitted, but later succumbed to his injuries.
Smith was taken into custody, where he made a confession on Tuesday.
