Jamaica News: Former President of the Senate, Professor Oswald Harding, is to publish his autobiography in early November, which will provide an insight into his record as a legislator and lawyer.

Mr. Harding, who served in the Senate for a combined 28 years, was also Attorney General during the administration of former Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Edward Seaga, in the 1980s.

He said that the more than 200-page book captures much of his childhood days growing up on Oxford Street in Western Kingston, where he was born.

“It talks of my early days at Kingston College and my early days after the death of my grandmother,” Mr. Harding told JIS News in an interview.

He said the publication, titled ‘Grandson of Essie’, also describes “how elections are run”, and the 1976 State of Emergency.

During his political career, Mr. Harding served as Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Justice.

“We have a great country, and to me, Jamaica has made great strides, and there is a lot more that it can do and will do with goodwill and sensible people,” he said.

The former Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Technology (UTech), Mr. Harding said he relished being given the opportunity to play a role in the establishment of the faculty.

Professor Harding said he is pleased that the UTech Law Faculty has received full accreditation.
