Montego Bay, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – Produce Offensive Weapon, Judge Orders Investigator: A St. James Parish Judge on Wednesday, July 12 deferred proceedings in the case against Derwin Foster, who was found with an open blade knife in his possession. The judge adjourned the matter to allow the investigating officer sufficient time to produce the weapon.
Foster appeared before Parish Judge Sandria Wong-Small in the St. James Parish Court where he pleaded guilty with explanation to possession of an offensive weapon.
Judge Wong-Small order came after Foster explained that he uses the knife as a tool which, he said, was not found directly on his person but instead inside his vehicle.
According to the accused man, the knife was inside his glove compartment with his screwdriver and other tools. He also told the court that he uses the knife to repair electronics.
On that basis, Judge Wong-Small indicated to Foster that she would enter a not guilty plea in the matter and made an order for the investigating officer to produce the knife.
The matter was subsequently set for mention on July 19.
