A list star and pro black activist actor Jesse Williams is now divorcing his wife, Aryn Drake-Lee of 5 years after being separated for more than a year.
The couple have been together for 13 years, have two children, daughter Sadie and son Maceo who was born in 2015.
The actor is asking for joint custody of his children and wish not to pay spousal support.
Williams and Drake-Lee, a real estate broker, met around 2007 when he was working as a schoolteacher in New York City. They eventually tied the knot in 2012 in Los Angeles, according to reports.
“She’s been with me through all different facets of my career,” Williams said about Drake-Lee to reporters in 2010. “She’s stuck with me through thick and thick and thin. We know each other in and out.”
We aren’t certain as to why he’s divorcing his wife, but it is being said he has moved on with actress Minka Kelly, who is co starring with him in an upcoming movie. They both have been seen in and around Hollywood where rumors started circulating about them being a pair.
“A system built to divide and impoverish and destroy us cannot stand if we do,” he said, giving a special shout out to Black women in particular “who have spent their lifetimes dedicated to nurturing everyone before themselves. We can and will do better for you.”
Pro black activist is a term used by many North African-American, who believes in unification of black people but also believe in constructively criticizing fellow black people who do not ascribe to the fundamentals of being pro black.
Jesse Williams, who is a star in the tv series “Grey’s Anatomy” have been a voice of reason in the pro black community, but also the face of much controversy as those who are anti pro black, including black people themselves used the fact that he’s biracial to judge him.
It is revealed that Williams filed for the divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. However the split is amicable.
