Crime: Portmore Man in Carjacking Held by Police

Latest Jamaica News, St Catherine (McKoy’s News): A Portmore Man has been arrested and charged by the Police in relation to an armed carjacking in Portmore, St Catherine last week.

The stolen motorcar in the incident was recovered by the police and detectives.

The suspect is identified as 25-year-old Cheddo Murray, otherwise called ‘Diego’, a graphic artist of Daytona, Portmore, who has been charged with robbery with aggravation and illegal possession of a firearm.

According to reports, about 9.15 pm last Wednesday, Murray and another man boarded a taxi, posing as passengers. Upon the taxi reaching the Southborough roundabout, Murray reportedly brandished a firearm and robbed the cabbie of the motor car and cash.

The taxi operator subsequently reported the matter to the police, and after an intense investigation by lawmen, the motor car was recovered in St Andrew and Murray arrested.

Murray was subsequently placed on an identification parade, where he was pointed out by the complainant.
