Portland Man Shot Dead by Police

Portland, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – A team attached to the Independent Commission of Investigation are now carrying out investigations surrounding the fatal shooting of a man in the parish of Portland on the weekend.
The deceased has been identified as, Derrick Brissett, 40-year-old laborer of Coopers Hill in Hope Bay, Portland.
Reports by the police are that about 11:10 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, a team of officers were carrying out an operation in the area when they saw Brissett. It is further reported that Brissett allegedly brandished a handgun and fired at the police. The fire was returned and during the confrontation he was shot.
Further reports are that a 9mm semi-automatic pistol loaded with several rounds was taken from the wounded gunman, who was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
