Jamaica Crime News, Portland: The driver of the ill-fated minibus which went over a precipice in St Margaret’s Bay, Portland on May 20, killing one student and injuring 24 other persons, was granted bail in the sum of $300,000 when he appeared in the Port Antonio Residents Magistrate Court, yesterday
23-year-old Oshane Mcpherson was offered bail with two sureties and ordered to return to court on September 11.
He is facing charges of causing death by dangerous driving, transporting excess passengers and driving without insurance.
On May 20, McPherson was transporting 24 students and a female adult in a 15 seater minibus. On reaching a section of Black Hill, he failed to negotiate a corner and lost control of the bus which crashed over a precipice.
13-year-old, Pranjal Jasti, a grade eight student of Titchfield High School died in the crash, and all the other passengers were seriously injured.
