A popular St James businessman was arrested on Tuesday, March 29, and officially charged on Friday, April 1, for allegedly assaulting his own daughter.
The accused man, 46-year-old Jermain Lynshue, a Security Manager of Sewell Avenue in Montego Bay, St James, has been arrested and charged with Assault at Common Law, Illegal Possession of Firearm, and Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.
Reports from the Barnett Street police are that about 8:00 am, on Saturday, March 19, the accused was at home with his daughter when an argument developed between them, allegedly over her using her cellphone.
It is alleged that Lynshue used a piece of board and a knife to hit the teen on both hands causing bruises, swelling, and pain.
The police also reported that it is alleged that a similar incident took place sometime early last year, where he allegedly pointed his firearm at his daughter, and the incidents were reported to the guidance Councilor at her school as well as a representative at the Child Protection and Family Services Agency.
Lynshue was asked to come to the St James Family Court on Tuesday, March 29, where he was arrested and his licensed firearm along with two magazines, one holster, and forty – two 9mm rounds were seized.
