Popular Kingston Footballer Fatally Shot During Confrontation with Police

Latest Jamaica News, Kingston (McKoy’s News): Footballer Fatally Shot Twenty-one-year-old Andre Edwards, otherwise called “Kingsley” a popular footballer who resided at Wilton Gardens, known as “Rema” in Kingston 13, was fatally shot during a confrontation with police on Wednesday, August 14.

Reports by the police are that on Wednesday morning, a team of officers were on patrol at a section of Rema known as “Victoria Town” when they came under gunfire from armed men.

Shotgun Seized in Spanish Town

The fire was returned and during the confrontation, Edwards was shot and killed.

The lawmen say a Browning 9mm semi-automatic pistol fitted with a magazine containing five live rounds, was taken from him.

Residents in Rema say Edwards is a promising footballer who represented Boys Town football team on several occasions, but despite being a footballer he is unemployed and got caught up in bad company.

A team from INDECOM is investigating this latest shooting.
