Jamaica Crime News, St Andrew: Popular Jamaica dancehall artist Capleton, who was Friday, May 12 arrested and charged with Rape, was granted bail when he appeared in the St Andrew Parish Court on Monday, May 14.
The popular dancehall artist whose real name is Clifton Bailey, 51-year-old of a Kingston 10 address, was represented by Attorney-at-law Christopher Townsend who applied for bail instantly upon his appearance on Monday morning.
Parish Court Judge Vaughn Smith, issued bail in the amount $250,000.00 to the entertainer, without authorizing any form of bail condition. Bailey is booked to reappear in Court on June 14.
Capleton is accused of sexually assaulting a female hairdresser about 11:30 a.m. on April 28, after he hired her to come to his hotel room in New Kingston to groom his hair.
It is further reported that, while in the process of grooming the entertainer’s hair, he allegedly turned on the hairdresser and forcefully held her down and allegedly raped her.
The matter was reported to the police who in turn brought in a team from CISOCA. Following an investigation, the popular dancehall artist was taken into custody.
He was questioned in the presence of his lawyer on Friday afternoon and then slapped with rape charges.
