Westmoreland, Jamaica (McKoy’s News)- POPULAR BUSINESSMAN SHOT AND KILLED IN WESTMORELAND ON THE WEEKEND: A popular businessman from the parish of Westmoreland was shot and killed by a lone gunman while at his business place in the parish on the weekend. He has been identified as 62-yr-old Winston Ranking, Grocery Store operator of Georges Plain.

Reports by the Sav La Mar police are that shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017, Ranking was conducting business as usual at his grocery store located along Jane Mark Road. Minutes later a man armed with a handgun entered the shop through a side door and opened fire hitting the elderly businessman several times to his upper body. The gunman then made his escape in the area on foot while several customers who barely escaped being shot alerted the Frome police. Upon their arrival, the wounded businessman was transported to the Sav La Mar Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

In the meanwhile, the police in Westmoreland stated that since the start of the year more than 100 murders have taken place in the parish and most of the murders they say are gang-related and reprisal shootings.
