Policeman Seriously Injured in Motor Vehicle Accident in Montego Bay

A police Sergeant is now at hospital in serious condition, following his involvement in a motor vehicle accident, which occurred outside the Summit Police Station, in Montego Bay, St. James,  on Saturday morning, January 5th.

He has been identified as Sergeant Donald Copeland, assigned to the St. James, Canine Division.

The driver of the vehicle who also sustained injuries, has since been warn for prosecution, and is now been treated at hospital.

Reports by the  Police are that about 12:30a.m.,  28-year-old, Romaine Tummings,  a Customer Service Rep, who resides in Flankers ,was proceeding up Dellisser Drive from the directions of Sunset Boulevard, in his Toyota Caldina motor car.

On reaching the vicinity of the Summit Police Station, he lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into a black Chevrolet which was parked along the roadway.  The Chevrolet slammed into Sergeant Copeland who was standing close by,  and he was knocked to the ground.

Sergeant Copeland sustained severe head injuries and was knocked uncuncious .

He was immediately transported to hospital where he was admitted in critical condition.
