The Kingston police say they are now asking members of the public for their assistance to identify a man, who was shot and killed during a confrontation with the police along Chancery Lane, in Kingston on Friday, August 3rd.
Two illegal firearms and Eight rounds of ammunition were taken from the dead gunman.
Reports by the police are that about 9:00 pm, on Friday a team of officers were carrying out operations along Chancery Lane when they came upon a group of men in the area.
Upon seeing the lawmen approaching, the men brandished handguns and open fire at the police.
The fire was returned and a gun battle ensued. During the exchange of gunfire, the unidentified man was shot, and the other gunmen managed to escape in the area.
A search was carried out of the surrounding and the unidentified gunman was discovered suffering from gunshot wounds, he was clutching .45 pistol and a Browning 9mm semi-automatic pistol, and Eight rounds of ammunition.
The wounded gunman was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
