Police Say Armed Robber Who Was Fatally Shot By Off-Duty Cop in St Andrew, Was Wanted For Rape and Murder

Jamaica Crime News, St Andrew: The St Andrew police have confirmed that a man who was fatally shot by an off-duty policeman, during a robbery at Barbican in St Andrew, on Friday night, was being sought for his involvements in several murders, rape and other criminal activities in the parish.

He has been identified so far only as Peter Campbell, otherwise called “Peanut” unemployed of a Barbican address.

Reports by the police are that about 10:30 p.m., a group of persons were standing along a section of the Barbican main road, when they were held up by Campbell, who was armed with a gun.

Campbell proceeded to rob them of cash and valuables, but he was challenged by an off-duty officer, who witnessed what was taking place.

The gunman was fatally shot during the exchange of gunfire, and an illegal firearm was taken from him.
