Police Release Names of Montego Bay, Double Murder Victims

Jamaica Crime News, Montego Bay: The Barnett Street police have now released the names of the two men, who were shot and killed by gunmen along a section of Barnett Street in Montego Bay, St. James, on Thursday evening, March 28.

They have been identified as 31-year-old Shian McKenzie, laborer of Orange district and Cassava Piece in Albion, St. James, and 39-year-old Melbourne Kerr, compressor operator of Barnett Oval, and Cassava Piece, also in Albion.

Reports by the Barnett Street police are that shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, Mckenzie and Kerr, who were coming from work, were walking along Barnett Street, when they were attacked and shot by two men armed with handguns.

The police were summoned and upon their arrival, both men were seen lying in a pool of blood, in the vicinity of Hunger Buster restaurant.

The victims were rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The killing of Mckenzie and Kerr, is the second double murder to have taken place in the parish, on Thursday.

Earlier on Thursday morning, two other men were murdered in Rose Heights community, while three others were shot and injured.

Since the start of the year, 39 persons have been murdered throughout the parish of St. James.
