Jamaica Crime News, St James: The Area One police have named four men, who they say are Persons of Interest, in connection with the recent violent flare-up in Granville and it’s surroundings.
The police have given the names of the men as Jeffery Saunders, otherwise called “Blinger”, who resides in Gordon Crescent, Granville and Virginia in the USA, Amoy Young otherwise called “Pinky”, Sanjay Ferguson, otherwise called “Biscuit” and Ryan Elliot, otherwise called “Bug Head”.
These men have been given until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14, to turn themselves over at the Freeport police station.
The police have indicated that the four Persons of Interest, are major contributors to the recent upsurge of gang violence that has surfaced in Granville.
On Tuesday, a joint military operation was carried out in the community of Granville and the operation resulted in the arrest of several men, three of whom the police say are also believed to be persons of interest.
The curfew which started shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, came following a series of violent flare-up, which includes, the shooting death of a 13-year-old student in Pitfour several weeks ago, and the shooting and wounding of another 15-year-old female student on Sunday night. September 9.
The police and JDF soldiers have mounted dozens of spot checks along a number of hot spots, such as Gordon Crescent, Gunn’s Drive, Fuller , along with Pitfour and the intersection to Pitfour and Retirement.
