Kingston, Jamaica (Mckoy’s New) – The Kingston Eastern Police and the Rockfort Fire Department are now conducting a series of investigations to determine whether foul play was involved, or if it was an act of arson which destroyed a three-story concrete family house and claimed the life of a senior citizen at Rockfort in Kingston 2 on Monday morning, January 1, 2018.

The victim has been identified as 83-year-old Corrine Morris, a retired resident of 1 Slipe Road.

Reports by the Kingston Eastern police are that shortly after 4:20 a.m., on Monday, residents saw fire and smoke coming from the building which was occupied by the deceased and six other persons and alerted the police and the Fire Department.

On arrival, the firemen worked for several hours to rescue the family members and to put out the blaze but most of the dwelling was already destroyed by the fire.

After the fire was put out, six of the family members who had received injuries were transported to hospital and treated.

After a search of the rubble, the charred remains believingly to be that of Morris was discovered.
