Westmoreland, Jamaica (JCF) – Police Investigate Woman’s Death in Westmoreland: The Police have launched an investigation into the disappearance and subsequent murder of 20-year-old Shantel Wright. Wright’s remains were discovered on Friday, June 16 in Westmoreland.

The Police High Command is aware of allegations of the possible involvement of a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). Consequently, INDECOM has been engaged to partner with us in this investigation.

The officer against whom this allegation has been made has been reassigned and is cooperating fully with investigators.

At this time, the Police have no evidence of this officer’s involvement with this crime. However, we are pursuing a full investigation with the sole objective of identifying the person or persons responsible.

We will keep the public informed of the progress of the investigation. In the meantime, we are appealing to citizens to be calm, and to share any information that can assist us during the course of the investigation.
