Police Commissioner Lauds Security Forces after more Gun Seizure in Bogue, St James

Jamaica Crime News, St James:  As the Joint Security Forces move deeper into the community of Bogue in Montego Bay in St James , the lawmen again reaped success on Saturday morning, May 5, with the seizure of yet another illegal firearm.

This has put the number of illegal firearms seized in Bogue over the past 24 Hours to nine in total.

Commissioner of Police Major General Antony Anderson, visited the area where the illegal weapons were discovered. He shared that he is commending all the officers and soldiers on the ground, for their hard work and dedication they have put out to make these seizures possible.

On Saturday morning, the military team carried out another operation at a section of the area known as Bogue Heights.

During the search, the seized a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol and a plastic bag containing a large amount of live 9 mm rounds.

This is the third find in the area which followed the seizure of four M-16 Rifles, four bullet proof vest and four M-16 magazines containing over 150 live rounds of ammunition in the early afternoon.

The joint military teams continue a search of the area and discovered three other handguns, a sub-machine gun and several other assorted rounds of ammunition in the latter stages of the evening.

The lawmen pointed out that, in the regions of 7:00 p.m. on Friday, they combed sections of Ramble Hill in the said surrounding where they discovered the four assault rifles and stumbled upon several plastic buckets in the bushes.

A search of the buckets led to the discovery of four other firearms, two 9-mm semi-automatic pistols , a. 380 pistol and a UZI sub-machine gun .

The firearms were discovered along with five 9mm magazines, other magazines and a number of assorted rounds.

No one has been arrested so far in connection with any of these seizures.

Earlier about 12:00 midday on Friday, the joint military team carried out an operation at a section of the Bogue community in Montego Bay known as Ramble Hill.

Upon reaching the area, the lawmen went to a bushy section of Ramble Hill and a search was carried out of a rocky terrain area.

During a search of the area, the lawmen discovered four M-16 assault rifles , four ballistic vests, and four magazines loaded with over 150 live rounds.

Also three blue ballistic vests such as the ones worn by police officers while on duty .

One of the vest appeared to be an army green JDF vest while the others had the markings POLICE and M/PATROL POLICE.
