PM Banning Corporal Punishment

St. Ann, Jamaica (McKoy’s News)- PM Banning Corporal Punishment: During his St. Ann’s Hospital Visit Prime Minister Hon. Andrew Holness boldly expressed his disapproval with corporal punishment following the recent viral video of a woman beating her daughter with a machete. The Prime Minister said he believes there are other less extreme measures to disciplining a child.

He further stated that he understands “the frustration… and pressure a single mother can come under when her child enters puberty” but he will not see it as acceptable.

The Prime Minister believes that corporal punishment strongly affects a child’s psychological well- being and it teaches children that violence solves everything.

He went on to further state that he has not condemned the mother as she will have to answer to the law. He persistent on the matter of the ban on crimes against children.
