PM Announced State Of Emergency in St Andrew South

Latest Jamaica News, St Andrew: Prime minister Andrew Holness, has announced that a State of Public Emergency has been declared in the St Andrew South policing area.

The announcement was made on Sunday morning, after the Prime minister who was accompanied by Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson, and Chief of Defence Staff Lieutenant, General Rocky Meade, said he advised the Governor General on the recommendation given to him by the head of the security forces.

Since the start of the year, a total of 94 persons have been murdered within the parish of St Andrew, comparing to 79 murders at this same time last year.

The PM also mentioned that most of these killings are gang-related.
