St. James, Jamaica ( McKoy News)- Public Health Services on Pink Eye Alert: Health workers in the parish of St James especially, have reported suddenly high numbers of cases of conjunctivitis or “Pinkeye” with approximately 150 within a one-week period. Trelawny is also experiencing a rise.
This has resulted in the ministry heightening its alert in the region and ramping up its efforts to control any full-blown outbreak of viral conjunctivitis for treatment, as the network critically facilitates an important flow of information on the necessary preventative measures.
The Senior Health authorities have confirmed that the infection is spreading. They have indicated that the Public health Centres are the ideal venues to treat the problem and get information on how to prevent spreading the disease.
Authorities report that adequate medication is in store to treat the virus. the health authorities are hoping for an effective prevention effort from the public, to facilitate the strain on the Public Health System.
