Minister without Portfolio, Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), Hon. Lester Michael Henry, places flowers at the shrine of National Hero, the Right Excellent Norman Washington Manley, on Thursday (July 4), at National Heroes Park, Kingston. The occasion was a floral tribute to commemorate the 126th anniversary of the birth of the National Hero. With the minister is Woman Corporal, Denesha McEachron. Born July 4, 1893, Mr. Manley was a lawyer by profession and Jamaica’s first and only Premier, serving in this capacity from July 1959 to July 1962. In September 1938, he founded the People’s National Party (PNP) and was elected its President annually until his retirement in 1969.
