The accused, 49-year-old Anthony Bailey, otherwise called “Admiral” phone technician of Cornwall Gardens, in Mount Salem, was offered bail with one to two sureties, and ordered to return to court on October 31.
Bailey was charged last weekend with the murder of Kevin Sterling, unemployed of North Gully and Porto Bello in Montego Bay, St James.
Reports by the police are that, about 6:30 p.m., Bailey and the man known as ‘Mango’ were standing in the vicinity of Bisco Mall, at the Embassy Place complex in downtown Montego Bay, when Sterling who is also a close friend of both men came over and accused “Mango” of giving his girlfriend money.
Sterling then reportedly pulled a knife and attacked “Mango” and his actions led to Bailey getting involved. Bailey reprimanded Sterling and told both men that they were friends, so they should stop.
Sterling left and later returned where he apologized to “Mango” and then attacked Bailey with a knife, which he used to inflict several stab wounds to his upper body.
In defense, Bailey reached for a knife, and during the physical confrontation Sterling was stabbed once to his upper body, and later died.
