Latest Jamaica Crime [ Mckoy’s News ] The St James Police have released the identity of a man who they say is a person of interest in the injuring of a police constable, who was shot and seriously wounded by gunmen, during a minor motor vehicle accident in the parish, on Sunday morning, September 22.
The name of the suspect his 24-year-old Travis Malcolm, otherwise called “Tippa” also of a Porto Bello address, and he is been sought in connection with the shooting of Constable Kashene Peterkin, has so far undergone surgery, and has been placed in intensive care.
Woman Sergeant Ulette Green, Liaison officer of St James say the police is asking Malcolm to turn in himself to the nearest police station by 12:noon tomorrow.
Reports by the Freeport police are that about 2:55 a.m., on Sunday morning, Constable Peterkin was driving towards his home, in his private motor car.
On reaching a section of the Porto Bello main road, his vehicle got involved in a minor accident with another vehicle.
The officer stepped from his vehicle to address the situation and he was immediately fired upon by armed men, who opened fire hitting him multiple times in his upper body.
Constable Peterkin managed to return the fire, and also managed to escape the scene, where he was assisted to hospital.
The scene was visited by other officers who are presently carrying out investigations into the shooting.
