The Portland Police have now confirmed that the male Person of Interest who was picked up by the police in connection with the murder of PNP Member of Parliament, Dr Lynvale Bloomfield, and who was later released from custody, was again picked up earlier this week and has now being officially charged in connection with his death.
The accused has been identified as 21-year-old Simeon Anthony Sutherland of Buff Bay in Portland, and he was officially charged with murder after being questioned on Friday.
Sutherland was taken into custody following evidence gathered at the scene of the crime, but he was later released. A number of the evidence were then sent for testing in Kingston, and based on the results, the accused was taken back into custody and charged.
Following the murder, Detectives attached to the Portland Major Investigation Division ( MID),  recovered important data from a cellular phone, which was reported stolen from the home of the slain Member of Parliament.
One source told our news team that a voice on the phone data which allegedly sounded like that of the accused, was overheard making several demands and threats from the murdered MP, such as wanting a car, money and a cell phone.
We also understood that Dr. Bloomfield and Sutherland had been communicating closely numerous times, prior to him being killed.
59-year-old, Lynvale Bloomfield who resides at Paisely Gardens, in Portland, was discovered stabbed to dead at his home, on Saturday morning, February 2nd.
Reports are that about 10:00a.m., Dr. Bloomfield’s helper arrived at the house and stumbled upon his naked body lying in a pool of blood, in his bedroom.
The police were summoned, and upon arrival it was discovered that Dr Bloomfield had multiple stab wounds all over his body.
The scene was processed, and the lawmen discovered a black jacked along a footpath leading to the house. Dr Bloomfield body was transported to hospital , where he was pronounced dead.
Two bloody knives and a vest were found at the scene and were sent off to the lab in Kingston for ballistic testing.

Dr Bloomfield ran on the People’s National Party ticket for the Eastern Portland Constituency,  in the year 2011, and won the seat. He has been the sitting Member of Parliament up to the time of his death.
