Pedestrian Mowed Down by Motorist in Ironshore

A 24-year-old man lost his life after he was mowed down while attempting to cross a section of the Ironshore main road in Montego Bay, St James, on Wednesday night, August 26.

The deceased has been identified as O’Brian Cooper, labourer of Sunderland, St James.

Reports by the Coral Gardens police are that shortly after 9:00 pm, Cooper and a group of men were walking along a section of the Ironshore main road in the vicinity of Ironshore Intersection, when he attempted to cross the roadway.

Cooper ran in the path of a grey Suzuki Vitara and was hit by the vehicle.

He sustained head and body injuries and died on the spot. The Coral Gardens police were summoned and upon arrival, they processed the scene.

Cooper was later transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
