Jamaica Crime News, St Catherine: Our news team has learnt that Raymond O’Neil Romand, the 47-year-old driver who is employed to the Minister of Culture, Gender, Sports and Entertainment, Olivia ‘Babsy” Grange Gordon, was arrested in April on a sexually related offense. He was granted bail when he appeared in the Spanish Town Court recently.
Romand was offered bail in the sum of $200,000 and was also ordered to surrender his travel documents.
He was arrested and charged by a team attached to the Centre for Investigation for Sexual Offenses (CISOCA) on charges of Abduction of a Child under 16 years of age and Sexual Grooming against a 14-year-old female student.
The accused was taken into custody on April 23rd, following a six weeks long investigation immediately after the teenage student brought the incident to the attention of family members and they inturn made a report to the police.
He is booked to reappear in court early June.
