Hanover, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – One Voice Gang Leader Killed: A man who is said to be the Leader of the One Voice Gang and who the police in Hanover say was at the top of the parish most wanted list for some time now, was fatally shot when he challenged members of a joint military team to a shootout on Friday night, June 23.
The police pointed out that, the now deceased has been linked to fifteen murders committed in the Lucea and Kingsvale policing areas alone.
The deceased has been identified as, Shanarda Leslie Edmond, otherwise called ” Blacks “, 33-year-old laborer who resides in the Mount Pleasant area.
Reports are that, about 8:30 pm a joint military team was carrying out spot check duties along a section of the Green Island main road, when they signaled a motor vehicle with several men on board to stop.
The driver of the vehicle immediately came to a stop and four men armed with high-powered weapons jumped out and fired on the police.
The lawmen took evasive action and returned the fire, during the shootout, one of the gunmen who was later identified to be Edmond was shot and killed. The other gunmen made good their escape in bushes.
Following the shooting, Edmond was found clutching a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, loaded with several 9mm rounds.
The firearm was recovered and the gunman transported to the Noel Holmes Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The police say the One Voice Gang leader and his cronies have driven fear and terror through the hearts and minds of the West Hanover residents.
He and his men are said to be behind fifteen murders which include the slaughter of a family of four in Mount Pleasant two weeks ago, and the double murder of a female shopkeeper and her son in the same area plus four other double murders.
