One Shot Dead, Three Injured by Police Impersonators in Santa Cruz

Jamaica Crime News, St Elizabeth: One man was shot and killed, and three others shot and injured by two alleged police impersonators at the Santa Cruz market, in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth on Monday night.

The dead man has been identified as 29-year-old Oral Collins farmer of Leeds district also in St Elizabeth.

Reports by the Black River police are that about 11:50 p.m. on Monday,  Collins and a group of men were at a stall in the marketplace when they were approached by two men who identified themselves as police officers.

The men brandished handguns and opened fire hitting all four men, then made their escape in a waiting motor car.

The police were summoned and upon arrival, all four injured men were transported to hospital, where Collins was pronounced dead. The other three victims were treated and admitted in serious but stable condition.
