Jamaica Crime News, Westmoreland: A man who is said to be among the list of Westmoreland most wanted men, was fatally shot during a confrontation with the police at a premises in Bethel Town division, on Wednesday afternoon, August 22.
A female who was at the premises was taken into custody and an illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition seized.
The police have given the identity of the slain wanted man as Donovan Roach, otherwise called “Tim Roach”. 28-year-old unemployed of Prospect in Darliston, Westmoreland.
The police further stated that Roach was being sought in connection with several murders and shootings, which have taken place within the Bethel Town and Darliston policing area over a period of time.
Reports are that about 1:30 p.m, on Wednesday, a team of officers acted upon information received, went to a house located in the vicinity of Tangerine Lane and Cedar Avenue, in Hermitage, Bethel Town.
On reaching the house, the lawmen came under heavy gunfire from men within the dwelling, so they took evasive action and returned the fire.
When the fire subsided, Roach was discovered suffering from gunshot wounds and a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, loaded with five 9mm, unexpended bullets were recovered. Also several bullet casings and warheads, we’re also removed from the scene.
A 23-year-old woman who was also seen at the house was taken into custody.
Unconfirmed reports are that one of the policemen was shot and injured by the gunmen and has since been admitted to hospital in serious but stable condition.
