The Old Harbour police have reported that one of five men who was taken into custody in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm, in Old Harbour, St Catherine, on Friday, March 22, has now been officially charged.

Investigators say they are unable to release the name of the accused at this time, as he may be placed before an identification parade.

Reports by the Old Harbour police are that about 11:00 p.m., a team of officers were on patrol at a section of Settlement Road, in Old Harbour, when they saw the five men travelling on board a motor vehicle.

The driver was signaled to stop, and he complied. During a search of the vehicle, the lawmen seized one 9mm pistol fitted with a magazine containing fourteen live rounds of ammunition.

All five men were taken into custody, investigations are still ongoing into the seizure.
