One Man Shot and Killed, Three Others Shot and Injured, Shortly After Security Minister Toured Sections of Clarendon, On Friday

Jamaica Crime News, Clarendon: One man was shot and killed, and three others shot and injured, in the parish of Clarendon, just hours after Minister of National Security, Dr. Horace Chang, toured sections of the parish and promised to provide more resources for the security forces in the parish.

The deceased has been identified as Jermaine Walters, laborer of Wood Hall district, also in Clarendon. The identities of the injured men are being withheld.

Reports are that about 8:15 p.m., Walters and the other three men, were among a group of persons at a gambling house, at a section of the area known as Coco Piece, when they were ambushed by armed men.

The gunmen opened fire, hitting all four men before escaping in the area.

The police were summoned and upon their arrival, the wounded men were rushed to hospital where Walters was pronounced dead, and the three other victims admitted in serious but stable condition.

Dr. Chang toured sections of the parish earlier that day, in the wake of a JDF soldier being shot and killed, on Sunday, June 23, among other murders which have been taking place in the parish.
