Jamaica Crime News, Trelawny: The police in the parish of Trelawny have confirmed that they have taken one man into custody, in connection with the stabbing death of an 18-year-old student, at a wake yard in the parish on Sunday, August 5.
The dead student has been identified as Raheem Allen of Calabar district in Rio Bueno also in Trelawny.
Reports by the Falmouth police are that about 1:25 a.m. on Sunday, Raheem was among a group of persons at a wake yard being held at a section of his community.
The student was standing outside a shop when he got involved in an argument with a group of men.
One of the men reportedly brandished a knife which he used to stab Raheem to the upper regions of his body. The wounded student ran and collapsed a short distance away.
The police were summoned and upon arrival, the wounded student was rushed to the Falmouth hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Following the incident, the police carried out an investigation which led to the arrest of the suspect.
