Off-duty Cop Commended after Shooting Armed Robber in Kingston

 Jamaica Crime News, Kingston: An off-duty cop who challenged, shot and killed a masked robber who attempted to rob the driver of a JUTC bus in Kingston on Saturday, July 21, is now being commended by members of the public,  his colleagues and the JUTC operators.

The dead robber has been identified as, Delgado Hislop, 40-year-old unemployed of Waltham Avenue in Kingston 13th.

Reports by the police are that on Saturday afternoon, Hislop who was wearing a mask, boarded a #98 JUTC bus along East Street.

It is further reported that on reaching the vicinity of the Dragon gym at Bar Bax, in close proximity to South Camp Road, Hislop brandished a knife and attempted to rob the driver.

The off-duty police officer who was traveling on the bus challenged the armed robber.  The robber reportedly attacked the plainclothes officer who pulled his service pistol and shot the robber to his upper body.

The robber then fell backward on the steps of the bus in a pool of blood.  The police were summoned and the robber was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

In the meanwhile, a team of detectives attached to the Inspectorate of Constabulary and a team from INDECOM are now carrying out investigation surrounding this latest fatal shooting.
