Montego Bay, Jamaica (Montego Bay, Jamaica) – NWC Neglects Raw Sewage: On Friday and Saturday morning of this week, a host of residents Business Owners and commuters took to the streets of Light Body Avenue. Railway Way Lane and Lower Barnett Lane and lashed out at the National Water Commission for the neglect of a raw sewage which has overflown and has been flooding the streets since Monday.
The residents say they have been living in these inhumane conditions for the past week now. They also added that the foul stench and floating feces have now become a serious health threat to their lives, and the lives of their children.
A number of business owners pointed out that they have been forced to close their business for several days despite making a report to the relevant persons at the National Water Commission which is just a few kilometers away.
Our news team contacted His Worship the Mayor Homer Davis who informed us that he has been made aware of the very grave situation.
Mayor Davis informed our News Team that he had personally contacted Kevin Kerr, First Vice Chairman of the National Water Commission, who assured him on two occasions that the matter would be dealt with promptly and that cesspool trucks were on their way.
A disgruntled Mayor stated that it came as a shock to him to know that they did now deliver on their promise.
