Kingston, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – NSWMA receives 11 trucks: The government has issued 11 International compactor garbage trucks valued at approximately US$1,658,597 or J$214,788,312 to the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA).
The total number of new trucks received since the start of the financial year is now 28. The regional entities, SPM Waste Management Limited, WPM Waste Management Limited and MPM Waste Management Limited will each receive three units, while the NEPM Waste Management Limited will receive two units.
Over the past weeks, there have been various mechanical challenges and as a result, the number of trucks in operations has been reduced. This has since resulted in both backlog and delay with the collection of solid waste from communities and town centres and the new trucks are expected to help with the clearing of backlogs and streamlining the operations of the regional entities.
