New Anti COVID-19 Measures Take Effect Today

New tightened restrictions to reduce gatherings and movement in the fight against COVID-19 take effect today Thursday, August 27.

These include:

·         Extended curfew hours

·         Stay at home orders for some Corporate Area communities

·         Prohibition of funeral services in churches across Jamaica

·         Restriction of burials to attendance by only 15 people

In Kingston, St Andrew, St Thomas and Clarendon curfew hours were already extended to 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily and as of today curfew hours for the other parishes are from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m..

Outside of the curfew hours, in some Kingston and St Andrew communities,  people will be required to stay indoors when not going about their business or to work. No hanging out “on the corner” or loitering will be allowed.

No funeral services are allowed. However, a maximum of 15 people, including undertakers and pastor will be allowed for burials. No procession is allowed.
