Narcotics Police Clamp Down On Major Drug Trafficking Ring

Four persons contracted to the Sangster International Airport (SIA) in St. James who are major players in a drug trafficking network operating out of the SIA were arrested and charged by Narcotics detectives for various breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act Sunday, October 10.

Thirty-five-year-old Romaine Kerr, Ramp Agent of Church Hill, Flankers, St. James is charged with:

  • Possession of cocaine
  • Dealing in cocaine
  • Exporting cocaine
  • Conspiracy to export cocaine

Twenty-three-year-old Brelanie Reid, aviation security officer of at Paradise, Norwood in St. James is charged with:

  • Breach of the Civil Aviation Act and
  • Conspiracy to export cocaine

Twenty-eight-year-old Tavon Murray, Ramp Agent of Irwing, St. James is charged with

  • Conspiracy to export cocaine

Forty-three-year-old Indra Waite Security supervisor of Salt Spring Road in St. James is charged with:

  • Conspiracy to export cocaine
  • Possession of Criminal Property
  • Aiding and abetting.

Reports are that on Sunday, October 10, the accused who were servicing a Sun Wing flight prior to depart the Sangster International Airport to Canada. During which they conspired and placed a bag with 11.4 kilograms of cocaine valued at approximately USD 570,000 on the flight.

The Cocaine was intercepted at the Toronto Pearson Airport in Canada and one person was arrested and charged.

The assistance of the Narcotics Division was requested who launched a high level investigation resulting in the arrest and subsequent charging of the other persons who were involved.

They are to appear in the St. James Parish Court on Wednesday, November 10.
