Jamaica Entertainment News, Montego Bay: Fresh from out of Westmoreland and gaining a lot of recognition in the music business of lately, Pamella Smith step up her career a notch on Monday, May 28, when she was crowned champion of the Red Stripe Bigg Buss song competition.
Going by the name Mystry P, she outshined 17 other contestants to claim the title and walk away with $100,000, plus a chance to appear on the 2018 staging of Reggae Sumfest which starts on July 15.
The show started off to a slow pace with the first five contestants. It wasn’t until Pamella Smith hit the stage that the crowd erupted into a frenzy during her performance of Queen Ifrica’s song entitled “Thong”. Miguel James then came on stage with a cover version of the Temptation’s “My Girl” and this made him the early favorite. He, however, slowed the pace down with a soul ballad, unfortunately, this was not what the people were expecting from him. Pamella Smith capitalized on his error and stepped up her performance with some hardcore cultural lyrics which earned her the crowd’s favorite.
She was presented with her symbolical cheque by Robert Russell and Reshima Kelly, assistant brand manager for Red Stripe. Mystry P then walked the streets of Paradise Row and St James Street boasting with her symbolical cheque.
