The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said officers from its Narcotics Division arrested and charged a musician for alleged breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act following the seizure of several pounds of ganja at Sangster International Airport in St James yesterday, December 14.

The accused is 53-year-old Maurice Larman, a Jamaican musician residing in Panama City, Panama.

He has been charged with:

Possession of ganja

Dealing in ganja

Attempting to export ganja

The JCF said: “Reports are that, about 11:45am, Larman was about to board a flight destined for Panama when he was stopped and his suitcase searched in his presence.

“During the search, a false compartment with six packages of ganja weighing approximately seven and half pounds was found,” added the JCF.

It said the marijuana has a street value of JA$30,000 and Larman is to appear before the St James Parish Court on Wednesday, December 19.
