Montego Bay: Salt Spring Double Murder

Montego Bay, Jamaica (McKoy’s News)  Salt Spring Double Murder: The Montego Hills police are carrying out investigations to determine the motives surrounding the shooting death of a teenage young man and another man in Salt Spring, St James on Friday morning, June 9,  2017.

Dead are Pheron Bennett, otherwise called “Washie,”  19-year-old laborer and a 42-year-old laborer Carl Thompson, otherwise called ” Carl”.

Reports are that, about 6:45 am Thompson and Bennett who were neighbors residing at a section of Salt Spring, known as Felman Corner had just walked from their houses and were brushing their teeth outside their gate.

They were approached by four heavily armed men who accused them of being informers. The men then opened fire hitting the teenager and the other man in the upper regions of their bodies.

The gunmen then walked from the scene on foot.

The Montego Hills police were alerted and upon arrival the wounded men were transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The police stated that these spate of murders in Salt Spring community are believed to have derived from an ongoing gang warfare in the area.
